The Overall Condition of the Patient

What Can Acupuncture Treat?

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends medical acupuncture as part of a treatment plan for dozens of conditions and diseases. We frequently treat the following common conditions with acupuncture — as well as many other conditions.

  • Pain - including low back and neck pain, radiculopathy and neuropathy
  • Pain associated with the following:
    • Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
    • Achilles tendinopathy
    • Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis
    • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
    • Rotator cuff injuries
    • Jumper's knee and runner's knee (patellofemoral pain)
    • IT band syndrome
    • Hip injuries
    • Piriformis syndrome
    • Sciatica
    • Shin splints
    • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Headache & migraine
  • Cancer treatment side effects
  • Allergies
  • Smoking cessation
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Gynecologic disorders including painful periods
  • Insomnia
  • Digestive disorders
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Pain associated with trauma or injuries including automobile crashes and slips/falls

Acupuncture involves more than just the obvious symptoms of a patient.  We evaluate the whole person, not just their symptoms, and take into account factors that may not necessarily be factors that Western Medicine doctors (our American-based medical system) value as being important.  Many times, our physical pain come in conjunction with or even as a result of an emotional imbalance rather than an actual injury or illness.  Acupuncture is now a widely accepted form of treatment especially for back and neck pains and many of the other conditions listed on this page.
